Nursey Inspiration

So we are in the conceptual phase of working on the nursery. Earlier this year when I was planning a baby shower for a friend, I came across a shower theme that was yellow and gray. This theme also had elephants. I could not quite mimick the theme for the shower, but could not stop thinking about it.

To see more pictures from this shower, go to http://www.bumpsmitten.com/2011/03/real-baby-shower-yellow-gray-elephants.html

So when we decided to use nuetral colors for the nursery, I thought of that color combination. We also considered a few other combinations like green and brown, and brown and red just to name a few. I kept coming back to gray and yellow but could not find any bedding that was affordable AND went with the colors.

Then my wonderful hubby did the impossible! No, he did not make a bedding set...but just as great he found the perfect one. So this anchored the room and we worked from there.
He also searched for a crib he liked and we found one within our price range. Unfortunately, we were waiting to buy it and it went up in price and out of our range. No worries, we are going to wait for it to come down again.

So we wanted to share a little of our inspiration with you all to show you where we are going with the decor. Once the room is finished, we will post pictures.

3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days!!

So I can't help thinking that if I were a sow, I would be farrowing (having little piglets) today! Lucky sows! Although I can't really complain, as my pregnancy thus far has been pretty good. Now I am not bragging, as I heard the pregnancy gods look down on that. I am merely stating a fact and am grateful that things have gone well thus far.

Although many people are shocked, I am still doing taekwondo. Two of my doctors and the OB nurse all assured us that it is ok as long as I don’t spar.  I have mainly been performing with the demo team although I went to regular class last night. It was more difficult but not impossible. I had to sit out the last 10 mins of class (when they were doing all the cool kicks).
How far along? 15 weeks!
Baby’s Size: 2 ½ ounces and about the size of an orange                                                                                                               Total Weight Gain: 10 pounds
Stretchmarks: No new stretch marks since the pregnancy.
Maternity Clothes: Got tired of breaking down every morning and bought some a few weeks ago and they are so comfy (and stylish). I primarily wear the maternity pants and am able to wear some of my shirts that are stretchy

Gender: We find out next month but I think it may be a girl.
Movement: None so far
Sleep: I wake up at least once during the night...which is better than my 2-3 in my 1st trimester.
Symptoms: I am moving slowly, and had a little heartburn, nothing major.

Food Aversions: none
Food Cravings: My biggest craving has been foods that have vinegar like bbq. I also have eaten sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper (something I ate growing up). I also am craving salt. So no tub of ice cream for me...maybe a pint of BBQ though

Best Moments this week: Heard the baby;’s heartbeat on Monday and I cried (scared the doctor). It is so hard trusting that the little one is ok in there when you can’t feel anything. So it was a relief to know that he/she was ok.
What I miss: I miss moving quickly and am also kind of missing my freedom. Meaning, I can’t plan trips for the first few months since I plan on breastfeeding and there are certain acitvities I can’t do. I know all of that will melt away though when I see that little face

What I am Looking forward to: I am looking forward to next month when we find out the sex of the baby our gender reveal party!!
Milestones: 2nd TRIMESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited!!!!!!!!!!!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Before I leave let me make this announcement, pregnant women have feelings too!! I have had people say some hurtful and rude things to me and I am not even half way through the pregnancy. So before you open your mouth to comment on someone’s weight, ask yourself, “would I say that if she were not pregnancy”? For some reason I have read (and experienced) that people think it is ok to comment on how big you are if you are pregnant. NO NO NO!! The only thing I was to hear is how pretty you think I am, or how well pregnancy fits me. I don’t want to be rude, but if someone hurts my feelings in the coming months, I might have to tell them exactly how I feel. (Wow that was longer than I thought) ::steps off soapbox::

2nd Trimester

Lots to look forward too…

So based on some calculations, I am entering my 2nd trimester…feels like a great milestone. My first trimester was not bad at all. I had really little morning sickness. I was tired sometimes but it was sporadic (had to take a few afternoon 15 minute naps though). My first trimester had quite a few favorite moments. I’ll start with fidning out the great news, Sean and I could not have been happier. But then announcing the news to friends and family gave us overwhelming joy. You all blessed us with your excitement and showed us how blessed this little one will be to be so loved! Another favorite moment was when I did power breaking in taekwondo, I think I was 9 weeks along. Power breaking is not one board but three…it was pretty fun! Oh gosh, the favorite moments just go on and on. Thought I could choose a few, but there is just so many!! Ok, two more and then I will be done. When we saw the little peanut for the first time (and that is what he/she looked like… peanut) and when we heard his/her heartbeat. Amazing!!

Here are a couple of things I am looking forward to now that I am on my second leg of the relay!

1. Not waiting for the other shoe to drop: Without much morning sickness, I was waiting to be really sick. Thinking today I’m ok, but surely I am going to be urpy tomorrow. Now that I am in the 2nd trimester…I am officially out of the woods. Pray for us anyway =)

2. Gender Reveal Party: We have both decided to find out the sex of the baby! So, next month we are hosting a gender reveal party to reveal the sex!!! More on this to come…

3. Baby Movements: I have always imagined how that must feel and soon I will be able to experience that first hand!!! I CANT WAIT!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

4. Working on the nursery: Sean and I have already chosen the theme for the nursery and will work on pulling it together in the coming months.
