Pregnant and I know it...

Say what?! Things they never told you about pregnancy!

So there have been quite a few things over the past several months that have taken me by surprise with my pregnancy. I don't think knowing these things would have prevented me from having a kid (or so I say) and I hope it is the same for those of you who have not started. For those who of you who have had kids, feel free to commiserate (or even laugh) with me. Also feel free to leave comments on ailments that I might have forgotten...or not yet experienced.

Doctor's visits - So I knew that I would have quite a few doctors visits. But I always imagined that I would get to see my little bean at every appointment. WRONG!!! Most of these visits seem a little boring (although I know they are important). And more so, I never really gave it much thought that I would have to see ALL the doctors in the practice, in case my doctor is not on call (what, he can't come in especially for me..so selfish!). So that has been a little annoying because I go to my doctor because I like him...and I can't say that for all the other doctors.

Using the restroom - Ok, I knew I would pee alot...but OMG I never thought I would pee this much! For goodness sakes, I had to go pee in the middle of a movie! And often times in the middle of church service..and on and on. But put this together with the fact that it is getting increasingly harder to squat..and you got yourselves a problem...LOL!

People are not really that much nicer - I recently traveled to DC. I was on the metro one morning and noticed all the seats were taken. So I poked my little pregnant belly out a little more...thinking smugly to myself, "someone will give me their seat.. I won't be standing for long" WRONG!!! I had to stand and sway with everyone else. I tried to reassure myself that people are not selfish and that maybe they did not notice I was pregnant. But c'mon, have you seen this belly. There is no denying that this is a pregnant belly.  

Sleep deprivation - I really hate to add this one in because I have been sleeping really well. But I can't get a solid eight hours of sleep since I get up and pee multiple times. Not to mention I still find myself on my back and it freaks me out.  And last but not least are the freaky vivid dreams. I cannot begin to explain them. They are all types of subjects but the thing that remains that same is how vivid they are! Not to mention that I can do things in these dreams that I have not been able to do in others. The one thing I remember being able to do..is to effectively beat someone up in my dream (no Sean did not wake with bruises..lol!). Usually in dreams I move like I am moving through water and so fighting is hard. Not anymore!! Watch out sandman!!  

Things you can't see - I have only heard of people not being able to see their feet. So how surprised was I to find out that there are other things that you can't see. I won't outright say it..but I will say that trying to shave your bikini line is quite difficult these days...lol!


Lightning crotch - Never heard of it? Then good for you! Let me tell you, nothing is better than being kicked in your who-ha by your unborn baby! And just try to keep a straight face when it happens in public. The fun part is, he has not even moved into position for delivery..so this will likely get worse :(  

Uncontrollable drooling - I don't know the science behind this but I do know that I am drooling alot more, especially at night. Although I have been known (ask Sean) to drool while I'm awake...sad but true. 


Well this is getting quite long, so I might have to do a part II.

Overall though, these ailments are small in scale and I thank God for blessing my pregnancy thus far :)

 

3rd trimester ..3 months to go!!

Woo ho! Last week we started our 3rd trimester! Final lap of this race. I recently passed my blood glucose tolerance test and the baby is doing well...thank you Lord!

Last week we also finished our maternity pictures. We were a little worried about the rain, but it held off and we got some wonderful pictures (see photos below)!

At 28 weeks our little one is about 2lbs (which is what the doctor estimated his weight to be). Supposedly this is the time in the pregnancy where women have a hard time sleeping. Thanks to our wonderful iComfort (by Serta), I have been sleeping wonderfully. Although I don't sleep as long as I used to. Last week, I also started counting the baby's kicks/movements.  I am supposed to do it twice a day and count between 7-10 movements in a two hour period. Baby S. has had no problems reaching that goal..even in a 5 minute period.

And today we are 29 weeks..yay!! And we are 77 days from the having our little bundle in our arms. Where are we on our to-do list now? We recently finished the maternity pictures and baby registry. Sean is hard at work on the nursery, but it is not yet finished. I am not too worried though.

This week we start our Lamaze class...so fun!

Roads and Lakes and Food....OH MY!!!

Our trip to Minnesota was so much fun! We thought the drive there would be miserable with all the stopping, but it actually made the trip go by faster.  On the way there we stopped in Lafayette, MN and made it to MN by 4pm Saturday.

Once we got to MN, we went out on Lake Minnetonka with a few of Sean's best friends. This was my first time out on Lake Minnetonka and on a speed boat. It was SOOOO fun! While on the lake we stopped by a restaurant inthe area called Fletchers. Talking about characters!! There was a guy there with a Master's jacket on. Is that random enough? No?! Well how about it was super tight and he had on flip flops..lol! Then there were these guys that had these shorts on that were so short and tight that I laughed so hard I started to cry (yes you had to be there..lol!)

 

The next day we were showered with love. Oh this little boy is going to be loved so much! Check out a few (and these are really just a few) of the pictures from the shower.

 

And if that was not fun enough..the next day we went out on the lake..and Sean and Dave tried wakeboarding for the first time..so much FUN!!! I have so videos of thier tries..they did a great job. Both were able to get up...and Dave was able to stand. Maybe I'll add the videos later when I have time to edit them.

One thing I forgot to mention was Dave and Jess's wonderful new home. Talking about gorgeous!! I love love love it! Congrats again Jess and Dave. And thank you all again (Dave, Jess, Darcy, Howard, Ben and Jill) for throwing a wonderful baby shower for us!
