Ok, the title might be a bit of overkill. Let me explain. Yesterday I went to the doctor because I was having severe pain in my lower right abdomen. It has been going on for a few days and Sean finally convinced (made) me to go to the doctor.
I went to the doctor and after examining me, he ordered a pelvic and abdominal ultrasound. After the ultrasound (which took 2 hours, not including wait time since a student was helping to do it) my doctor requested I be admitted to the ER. Now, I'm thinking great. I am breastfeeding an infant and now have to go to the ER. At this time (around 3pm) I have not had a bite to eat. Talking about frustrating. So at this point, they are thinking this mysterious pain could be one of many things from appendicitis, hemorrhage, endometritis, torsed ovary.
So since I was not presenting with fever, vomiting, etc...they did not think it was appendicitis. In the ER, they took blood and then performed a CT scan. Except for a few short lived meltdowns with dad, Seth was a champ and slept most of the time. In the end ( and 11 hours later) they wanted to admit me overnight...how about NO! I convinced them to let me go home and go back the next day in the office for follow-up. Which they did. I went this AM and the doctor thinks it is an intermittent torsed ovary. And we will be playing the wait and see game :(
Anyway, in the end there was really no murder (unless you count the big mac I inhaled after not eating all day). And there was no mayhem, although when I thought the triage nurse was trying to separate me from my baby, I was about to set it off! Just a whole lot of mystery...
By the way, I love that the doctor gave me medicine due to my high blood pressure (although my pressure was only high in the ER...wow, wonder why?!)...medicine that has given me a horrible headache ALL DAY! Luckily the doctor told me to stop taking it.
